Ikea names first woman CEO for its India operations

IKEA (part of the Ingka Group) announced the appointment of
Sussane Pulverer as its new and first female CEO and CSO (chief sustainability
officer) for its India division on Wednesday.

Pulverer succeeds Peter Bretzel, the outgoing CEO of Ikea
India, who will move on to his next role within the company. Pulverer was the
group business risk and compliance manager at the Ingka Group before to
becoming CEO and CSO of IKEA India.

Pulverer, who joined Ikea in 1997 and worked in several jobs
within the Ingka Group organisation, will be returning to India for the third
time, according to the world’s top home furnishing retailer. “I’m quite
happy to be back in India.” For the Ingka Group, India is a top priority
market. “Peter and his crew did an outstanding job,” Pulverer
remarked.

“It has been a fantastic pleasure being a part of the
Ikea India adventure,” stated outgoing CEO Betzel. “I’ve had the help
of a fantastic and dedicated team.”

Pulverer had started her journey as environmental manager
for the Ikea Group and moved on to Ikea of Sweden, the product development
company where she held various roles in different business categories.

She then moved to India
in 2007 to head the purchasing function for Ikea South Asia, during which she
developed a strong connection and passion for India and its people. Courtesy: www.
