Proudly made in India to the highest global standards – Jai Industries
Can you briefly outline Jai Industries’ history for us?
Jai Industries was founded by my late father, Mr. Niranjan Shah, in 1965. Though we started as a family business but we have worked our way to make Jai Industries a very professionally structured company. We started with just solid wood machines and gradually added panel processing machines. We have maintained our ethics and values since 1965, and that’s our strongest differentiator in the market.
From 5 to 8 machines a month in the beginning to more than 3,000 machines a month, the growth is phenomenal. What is your mantra for success?
We have always believed in working closely with our customers, understanding their needs and requirements, and delivering as per demand. Being consistent, maintaining good quality, and providing strong after-sales services are some of our uncompromised parameters. Jai is here for everyone and all segments of customers, whether it’s a small carpentry shop or a large furniture manufacturing industry.
Please tell us about your product range for the Indian market. How has your product range developed in response to market demands?
We have a range of machines for solid wood and panel processing. India is a growing market for furniture consumption. It is predicted to witness healthy growth in the near future. In response to this prediction, we have managed our manufacturing resources optimally to deliver as per the market’s demands.
In terms of the Indian market, what are your business plans for the next five years? Which cities and markets have good potential according to you?
We enjoy great trust and reputation in the entry-level and mid-level segments, and we want to focus on high-end turnkey projects and offer automation to customers as labour is their main issue. We are the only company that has a strong dealer network all over India. Our focus is India, no city in particular.
What other international markets, besides India, do you target most, and how do you serve both domestic and international customers?
Indian subcontinent, Africa and gulf are our major international markets. In order to maintain a smooth and hassle-free experience for our customers across the globe, we have maintained dedicated departments for domestic and international markets and dedicated after-sales service.
What position does Jai Industries occupy in the innovative landscape, and how do you use innovation—particularly digital innovation—to your advantage.
Since our beginning, innovation has been an integral part of JAI. We are continuously trying to innovate our machines by adding features that are favorable to our customers. Every year, we develop 3–4 machines according to market demand. With our Optimus line, we offer automation to our customers.
How do you, as a machinery company, make sure that your service requirements are upheld?
We have more than 75 field engineers and more than 15 customer relationship executives. Not only that, we have a dedicated source for spare part requirements. We maintain solid relations with our dealers and customers to be able to resolve their grievances quickly and offer them satisfactory solutions.
The Indian furniture industry is currently expanding at a rapid rate, and domestic producers have been successful in fending off competition from the imported furniture market. How does Jai Industries take advantage of and add to this incredible shift?
With growing urbanization across the country, the demand for furniture pieces is growing rapidly. With government initiatives like “Make in India,” customers are more aware and invest more in products that are manufactured locally. We make sure that we educate our customers on the growing demand for the furniture industry and provide them with a facility that offers them maximum productivity.
A machine segment is available for uPVC in addition to machines for solid wood and panel processing. This is an amazing move by Jai Industries. What other categories are you looking to break into?
Currently, we are working to get the same recognition with our uPVC machines as we have in our wudPro, Modula, and Optimus segments. We launched the uPVC range in order to cater to the growing need for door and window machines.
