CCI says Jabalpur requires ISI mark furniture industry

Despite the fact that Madhya Pradesh has the country’s
largest forest area and wood production capacity, there isn’t a single
ISI-certified furniture or block board manufacturer in the state, and only
eight BIS-certified industries, according to Himanshu Khare, Vice President,
Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

According to him, there are more than 20,000 MSME registered
furniture manufacturing industries in the country, with 96 percent being micro,
3.7 percent being small, and 0.3 percent being medium.

According to him, the state has 643 micro, 16 small, and 3
major businesses that make wood furniture.

The office furniture market, according to Himanshu Khare, is
rising at a 20% annual rate. He claimed that the government is now running a
number of cluster-building programmes, but that no furniture cluster has yet
been established in Jabalpur.

Prem Dubey, a member of the Lack of Value Addition
Federation’s working committee and the working president of the Jabalpur
Chamber of Commerce, said on the occasion that the Jabalpur district and
division are rich in forest land, and that valuable wood worth crores of rupees
is sent out of Jabalpur and the state every year.

He stated that while the government has declared the
development of a furniture cluster in Indore, a similar cluster is also
required in Jabalpur.

Members of the Federation working committee Ashok Kapoor,
Rajiv Agarwal, Arun Pawar, Amarpreet Chhabra, Shashikant Pandey, and others
demanded from State MSME Minister Omprakash Sakhlecha that Jabalpur have a
state-of-the-art furniture cluster with the latest technology and a common
facility. Pave the way for the establishment of the centre so that the timber
traders in and around Jabalpur can give a new direction to their Courtesy:
