IKEA has leased two floors at R City Mall in Ghatkopar, Mumbai, as part of its development plans!

According to reports, this space will be used to open India’s second city-centre store in the country’s financial metropolis.

IKEA, the Swedish furniture giant, has leased two floors at Mumbai’s R City Mall for the next nine years, as part of its expansion plan in Maharashtra and India. In Ghatkopar, a new IKEA showroom will be built on an area of more than 1 lakh square feet. According to rumours, this will be India’s second city centre shop in the country’s financial capital.

For compact urban locations, a real IKEA experience is available.

IKEA is known for its large-format stores that span 400,000-500,000 square feet and are typically found on the outskirts. However, as part of its long-term commitment to the government, the Swedish furniture giant has developed city stores modelled after those in Paris, Moscow, Vienna, and Shanghai. In addition, when completed, this city store would be the second of its sort in Mumbai.

IKEA officially set foot
in Mumbai by opening India’s first city store in Worli on December 9 after
opening two flagship shops in Hyderabad and Navi Mumbai. Unlike IKEA’s usual
huge blue box stores, this pack and package home furnishing centre is a small,
80,000-square-foot location. The goal of opening small-format stores is to
cater to urban locations while still providing the true IKEA experience and
services to a larger client base. Courtesy:
